How To Clean a Bunn Coffee Maker in Less Than 10 Minutes

The Bunn coffee maker is a great way to make delicious coffee quickly and easily. However, without proper maintenance and cleaning, your machine may not work as well as it should. In this article, we’ll look at how to clean a Bunn coffee maker properly so you can keep your machine running smoothly for years to come.

Before you start cleaning your Bunn coffee maker, make sure it is unplugged from the wall or turned off if it’s connected via an outlet switch. Then remove all of the parts that are usually removable including the filter basket holder, carafe lid, sprayhead and funnel top. Use warm water and mild dish soap to wash each piece separately in the sink. It’s also important to rinse off the filter basket holder and funnel top with warm water to get rid of any residual soap.

Once your components are clean, you can move onto cleaning out the interior of the machine. To do this, fill the decanter with equal parts white vinegar and water. Place the decanter back in its spot underneath the brewer head, then turn it on as if you were making a pot of coffee. Once your Bunn coffee maker has finished brewing, unplug it again and leave it alone for at least an hour so that the vinegar solution can soak through completely. After an hour or so, pour out any remaining liquid from the carafe and rinse both it and the inside of your machine thoroughly with fresh water until all of the vinegar smell is gone.

Next, use a soft damp cloth to wipe down all of the surfaces inside and outside your coffee maker including the sides, bottom and top. If there are any stubborn stains or caked-on particles, you can use a combination of warm water and baking soda to help loosen them up before wiping away.

Finally, put everything back together according to manufacturer’s instructions — if applicable — and make sure all pieces fit snugly in place. Now that you know how to clean a Bunn coffee maker properly, you can enjoy freshly brewed cups each time without worrying about bacteria build up or an unpleasant taste.  With regular cleaning and maintenance, your machine should continue running smoothly for years to come!
